About MUCC

The ninth annual Michigan Undergraduate Consulting Conference (MUCC) will take place on March 29th, 2024 and is open to all students interested in learning more about the dynamic field of consulting. Students will have the opportunity to interact with top firms through workshops, career panels, networking events, and a case competition while also becoming more familiar with the industry as a whole. The goal of this conference is to inspire students to further explore opportunities in consulting, while introducing industry leaders to Michigan’s best and brightest.

2023 Conference Summary

Last year’s MUCC workshops introduced attendees to the essence of consulting and the differences between firms, while bringing interactive activities in building teamwork and solving cases. Through the conference theme "The Power of Perspective: Embracing Intellectual Diversity," attendees of all backgrounds were welcomed to explore the vast opportunities of consulting. The conference also included a keynote speaker, networking lunch, career panel, and career fair with 10+ of the largest consulting firms represented. Attendees also had the chance to participate in an optional case competition, sponsored by L.E.K. Consulting.

McKinsey & Company Workshop

Attendees participated in a "Choose Your Adventure" style case workshop through which they were introduced to McKinsey’s 7 Steps of Problem Solving technique. Firm representatives also provided insights into a realistic day in the life as a traveling consultant.

The Keystone Group Workshop

Attendees learned about the different types of consulting services that Keystone offers, its unique culture and resources, and upcoming opportunities. Additionally, they practiced a case simulation on a fictional seltzer manufacturer, reviewing key concepts such as graph comparisons, production optimization strategies, and cost-benefit analysis.

PwC Workshop

Firm presenters led discussions on their career journeys and experiences in the workplace. Attendees were then guided through a behavioral workshop centered around 4 objectives: examine the impact of first impressions, polish your professional presence, communicate your story, and practice the art of storytelling.
